For individuals with university or college degrees and/or professional certifications who are employed in health education, physical education, recreation, or dance.
Individuals employed in these fields or attending graduate school part time must register as Professional Members.
For individuals who do not qualify for another membership category, including teacher aides and teachers certified in another teaching area.
For undergraduate students and full-time graduate students preparing for careers in health education, physical education, recreation, dance, or allied fields.
Individuals employed in these fields or attending graduate school part time must register as Professional or Associate Members.
For retired individuals who have held Professional Membership in a state HPERD association for 20 total years, including 10 consecutive years with TAHPERD.
Qualified Retired Members may participate in all TAHPERD activities, hold office, and vote.
For retired professionals with either 30 cumulative years or 25 consecutive years of membership in a state HPERD association, including at least 10 years with TAHPERD or a predecessor association.
Qualified Emeritus Members participate without dues and receive the TAHPERD Journal at no cost, but may not hold elected office.
Basic Access offers a simple way to stay connected, receive updates, and use select TAHPERD resources.
TAHPERD invites members to take an active role in the success of their professional association. Committees are selected each fall for the upcoming year.

Full membership includes two journal issues each year—Spring and Summer. TAHPERD publishes peer-reviewed research and practical activities or experiences that have worked well in educational settings.
TAHPERD also publishes TEKS guidebooks for health and physical education.
Electronic newsletters keep members informed about health, physical education, recreation, and dance news, events, legislative issues, and other professional updates.
TAHPERD posts job announcements free of charge for members.
